Colin Manko began playing the guitar at the age of 12. Now 25, he has gained 8 years of teaching experience along with 9 years of professional playing experience. Colin attended both the University of North Texas and Georgia State University, where he studied jazz performance and classical music theory. Currently, he collaborates with his own jazz project, Colin Manko Trio, and indie rock band, Franny, from Athens, Georgia.
Colin has played in several festivals around the country, including: Denton Jazz Festival, Port Orange Jazz Festival, Lakeside Jazz Festival, and Telluride Jazz Festival. At the University of North Texas he was a member of the coveted 3 o’clock lab band and was selected as first chair of the L-5 guitar ensemble. Although jazz has been his main focus, his background in music theory, and his experience gained from several indie-rock projects, make him a well-rounded music teacher.
