About Clare Chun

Clare Chun is a classically trained pianist from Southern California. Since the time she started taking piano lessons at the age of 5, music has always been a major part of her life. She grew up playing the piano in her church, playing in chamber music groups, and even in orchestra where she played the flute for over 7 years. As she began to involve herself more and more in music, she quickly became very passionate about art and all the ways one can express themselves through it.

Her passion for music led her to study at Biola University where she received her Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. She studied under Dr. Beth Nam, and received several music merit awards and scholarships from the piano department in her time as a student there. She was given many opportunities to perform in master classes for prestigious pianists including Boris Berman, Anne Schein, and William Nabore. She also attended the MasterWorks Festival where she was chosen to perform in concerts including their Solo Honors Recital. She also pursued further work as a collaborative pianist, performing as a chamber musician and accompanist for both instrumentalists and vocalists.

While Chun has had many great opportunities to perform as a pianist, she quickly realized her true passion is teaching piano. She finds great joy in helping others discover the love of music she has found through her own experiences. She believes taking piano lessons is not just about learning techniques and concepts - but also about the process of learning and growing as a musician and person. Clare has worked with students as young as 4 years old, all the way up through advanced and adult students. She enjoys looking for different ways to help each individual student grow according to their strengths/interests. She is committed to helping each student find their voice in music and takes every opportunity to work with a student as a great privilege.
