About Claire Jones

Claire is a current student at the University of Central Florida. She currently plays clarinet in the UCF concert band and university band. While playing in the band she also continues to practice her cello and piano as well. She enjoys all types of music and can appreciate fresh perspectives of different styles of music. Claire loves to play the piano, cello, B Flat soprano clarinet, bass clarinet, baritone saxophone and alto saxophone.

Claire started her musical endeavors at the age of five on the piano. She performed in recitals annually and instantly fell in love with music, music theory, and performing. She continued to take lessons until she moved to Orlando for college and continues to still play and have a passion for it. As she progressed through her earlier school years she picked up the clarinet at the age of 10 and soon after the bass clarinet. She joined her high schools marching band at the age of 12 and together they all won the Florida Marching Band Championships state championships that year. The marching band would continue to win 3 more times while Claire remained in the band. While marching band did take up a large part of time, she also made time to play in the concert band, jazz band, perform in musicals, perform in color guard, compete in dance and take cello and piano lessons. When she was about the age of 12 she picked up the cello after listening to Bach's first cello suite and feeling inspired. Claire took lessons weekly until she graduated high school and left for college. Because of her broad love of genres for music, Claire wanted to join the jazz band. At age 14 she taught herself Baritone saxophone over the summer break and started jazz band in the fall semester. The jazz band went on to be awarded superior ratings in many seasons of MPA competition.

Claire enjoys many other hobbies outside of the music as well including volunteering with animal shelters, riding horses, crafting, working out, and teaching Zumba.
