One thing is for sure: Ashley loves sharing the joy of music with others. Whether you're interested in piano, violin, composition, computer music, or the nitty gritty of anything music, she can't wait to get started.
Ashley began her study of piano at the age of 5 with the Suzuki method under the guidance of Marie Broomfield. At 11, Ashley wrote her first piece for piano and began to explore composition. In highschool, she studied piano, violin, and composition independently, and took harp lessons on the celtic lever harp. She decided to attend MSU Denver so she could study music as well her other interests, computers and environmentalism. While at MSU Denver, she studied with Dr. Jooeun Pak on piano, Dr. David Farrell and Cherise Leiter in composition, and Jenna Hunt on harp. She graduated in the spring of 2023 and has been an active musician since.
During her studies, she has received a studio recognition award and the Fred Hess Scholarship in composition, won the Provost solo and chamber ensemble competition for her performance of the Prelude from Debussy’s Bergamasque Suite, and graduated with Summa cum laude: which is all to say, she loves music and is an absolute music nerd!
Around town, Ashley can be found playing in contemporary orchestras such as Witches & Science, accompanying theater troupes for musicals (her favorite so far has been Dream Girls!), playing in the community Balinese Gamelan group Tunas Mekar, and jamming with friends. Outside of teaching, Ashley spends way too much time gaming on her PC, loves baking and cooking, and tries getting into nature as much as she can.
