About Alvin Tai
Alvin began his musical endeavors at the age of six on the piano and organ. Alvin specialized in teaching Beginning Piano to children and adults of all ages. His music education is affiliated with The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, UK.
Alvin believes music is a vehicle to our inner self. The ability to play a musical instrument and engage in that experience is in itself a journey of discovery and self-expression. Alvin believes the ability to play a song or a tune we recently heard can bring immense joy and fulfillment to our life. As our world gets busier with the proliferation of technology and the endless distraction of news, Alvin's goal is to teach children and adults to play the piano so they may have an avenue to connect with themselves and create the life they want.
The piano is Alvin's instrument of choice because it is the one instrument that has allowed him to be a conductor, a lead, an accompaniment and a bass, all in one. It is the instrument that Alvin enjoys in solitude as it does not need other instruments to give it a full orchestral sound.
Alvin's teaching approach is based on the rudiments of music fundamentals. The ability to read and understand music is as important as being able to feel and hear the music. Alvin will teach you how to read music so you can begin the journey of playing the piano and play any song you like for the rest of your life. After you learn the piano from Alvin, it will be an investment and skillset that no one can take away from you!
