    About Alex Moua

Alex has been surrounded by music his whole life. He started off learning percussion at the age of 9 and played that all throughout high school, being involved in the school band and jazz band. His parents started enrolling him in guitar lessons at about the age of 13 due to his developing interest in learning it. He also developed a passion for singing through his involvement in the school choir in high school and college. Along the way he also picked up various other instruments such as bass guitar, piano, and ukulele.

He graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point with a minor in music, studying under Dr. Story for music theory, Tom McComb for guitar, and Professor Thayer for voice.

Listening to a wide variety of music, Alex originally was drawn to music by classic rock music that his parents played for him as a child. As a teenager he quickly discovered grunge, punk rock, and metal and gravitated towards that. These days he draws a lot of inspiration from emo and pop punk music such as Taking Back Sunday, Hot Mulligan, Joyce Manor, and more. If there's a band, there's a very good chance he has listened to or has heard of them before. If not, he's always down to talk about and discover new music!

Alex has lots of experience playing live music with bands. His first show was at the age of 15 with his first ever band "TBD". You can find him these days mostly playing shows and festivals around the Seattle area with one of his various projects that include: Waiting in the Willows, Delridge, Formal Weather Patterns, and more.

Alex has a wide variety of interests that include: video games, computers, soccer, weightlifting, and spending time with his two cats, one of them who loves to accompany him whenever he plays guitar!

Alex feels like everyone is able to learn music no matter the age or skill level, and that it helps shape people into more well rounded individuals. He is looking forward to teaching students and hopes to instill the same passion in them that he has for music.
