About Waldo Diaz Miranda

Having experience in teaching since he was still student at the National School of Arts (Cuba), Waldo Diaz Miranda is a very talented young artist who is specialist in Classical Piano Performance, Choir Conduction, and Composition. Through his extensive career, Waldo has won several recognitions and awards, which had set him apart from others, such as 1st Prize as The Youngest Choir Conductor in the Children's Choral Festival in 2000 (Havana, Cuba), the 3rd Prize and Honorable Mention for The Best Interpretation of Baroque Music in the Third Ibero-American Piano Contest in 2001 (Havana, Cuba), just to cite some. Waldo has also composed and recorded music for TV in Cuba, and his music had been premiered in prestigious Concert Halls of the City such Amadeo Roldan Music Theater, Convent of Minor Basilic of San Francisco de Asis, among others. In 2004 were premiered his pieces "Actitud" and "Fuga Inutil" for Female Choir by Luna Vocal Ensemble (Havana, Cuba), and in 2005 the same professional ensemble premiered "Meta" as well.

While studying in the Superior Institute of Arts in Cuba, Waldo Performed at the Inaugural Concert for the 20th Festival Contemporary Music (Havana, Cuba) in 2005, and the same year performed along with other five important pianists The Integral of the Bach's Partitas under the guidance of the well known Cuban pianist, composer and pedagogue Andres Alen. Currently Waldo is finishing his Bachelor's Degree in Classical Piano Performance and Composition at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida, on a full scholarship to finish his studies in The USA.

Creative and passionate are words that can describe Waldo who has been guided by important and recognized artists and pedagogues along his trajectory such as Andres Alen, Juan Pinera, Victor Rodrigues, Alicia Perea (in Cuba), and Ciro Fodere, Susan Epstein Garcia (in The USA). He is not just a committed professional, but also an experienced professor with very positive results. Able to meet every student's need and working at everyone's own speed, Waldo is always concern in delivering knowledge while having fun creating a friendly and respectful environment.
