About Stephen Wood

Stephen holds a Bachelors of Music degree in Composition from Ohio State University and a Masters in Music in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University. Stephen has achieved great success as a composer and performer. He has been commissioned by various ensembles, such as the Fisk University Jazz Ensemble, to write original works for dedicated performances. Stephen is the founder and director of the Stephen Wood Ensemble, which has released two albums to date; "Inaudible" and "Theory of Chaconne" which can both be found on iTunes. Along with a passion for music, Stephen is also a Naturalist and Organic Gardener. A new musical pursuit is composing works for both classical chamber and modern jazz ensembles directly inspired by meditations on plant life and natural processes. In addition to composing and performing, Stephen teaches jazz & classical piano as well composition for Lessons in Your Home.
