    About Sophia Feinberg

Sophie attended the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal where she studied with renowned cellist Matt Haimovitz for four years and graduated with a degree in Cello Performance. She has been part of several performance tours across Europe as featured soloist, Principal cellist, and orchestra member. Sophie has performed in master classes coached by acclaimed cellists such as Philippe Muller, Peter Wiley, Darrett Adkins, Earl Carlyss and Irene Sharp. As a member of the Capriccio String Quartet studying under Asya Meshberg, Sophie’s chamber group was winner of the Center for Chamber Music Scholarship Competition. As the Norwalk Youth Symphony Concerto Competition winner she performed the gorgeous Elgar Cello Concerto in E minor as soloist with orchestra.

Sophie began her musical studies at the age of 9 on the cello and piano studying with Lois Errante and Edith Sullivan in Wilton, Connecticut.  Until her recent move to Seattle, she had a thriving cello studio in Connecticut and performed with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra. Her journey led her to Seattle where she now flourishes as a cello/piano teacher and performer.

Finding and nurturing the musical creativity that is within each individual is Sophie’s passion. She considers it her specialty and purpose to find that artistry and help each of her students find pleasure in expressing the beauty of music. Consistent and structured practice is necessary to succeed, but just as important is ensuring her students enjoy themselves in their pursuit of musical and technical proficiency.
