About Nick Ramliak
Dr. Ramliak is a diverse musician fluent in many styles of guitar and specializing in Rock, Jazz, Blues, Fusion and Classical Guitar. He completed a D.M.A. in Composition from the University of Miami for which he was awarded a full scholarship and teaching assistant position at the age of 26. He also received a M.F.A. in Studio Composition from S.U.N.Y. Purchase, at the age of 22, while also teaching undergraduate college courses. Dr. Ramliak's A.B.S. in Jazz Performance was split between Mercy College and the Berklee School of Music, where he graduated Cum Laude in three years.
As an educator with twenty-five years of experience, he has taught all ages and levels including classes at the University of Miami, S.U.N.Y. Purchase and in the New York City school system where he holds a permanent New York State Teacher's Certificate. His compositions have been published and performed internationally while his doctoral dissertation on contemporary orchestration techniques has been cited in scholarly references. He has appeared in such publications as "Just Jazz Guitar", "The Village Voice" and "Steppin' Out", among others.
He is currently involved in several recording and performance projects. Some recent endeavors include the original score for Pit Bull's reality show "La Esquina" season 2. His proudest qualities are a voracious passion for teaching and the arts. His abilities and credits in performance and composition/arranging span from Hip-Hop to Heavy Metal to Contemporary Classical Orchestral works. Dr. Ramliak's principal guitar teachers include, Chuck Wayne, Bill Connors and classical guitar with Juan Mercadal.
