About Michel Gonzalez
Michel Gonzalez (born 1976 in Caracas, Venezuela and raised in Galicia, Spain) is a guitar player, composer, arranger, producer and educator. As a child, he found himself captivated by the sounds and rhythms of guitar maestros like Paco de Lucia, Django Reinhardt, Baden Powell and Joe Pass. This intensive passion to learn guitar quickly materialized. He studied classical guitar at Malleusis Conservatory in Vigo and Conservatorio Profesional de Musica de Santiago de Compostela. He also took master classes with Pat Metheny, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Charlie Banacos, Jorge Pardo, and Barry Harris, and earned his professional diploma at Estudio Escola de Musica. In addition, Michel was subsequently awarded a scholarship from A.I.E (Society of Artists and Performances of Spain) to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Professional Music.
His musicianship and versatility have earned him opportunities to perform in the US, Mexico, Dubai, Spain, Portugal, Costa Rica and Puerto Rico, sharing the stage with international recognized artist and ensembles such as Oscar Stagnaro, Skip Hadden, Mark Walker, Marta Gomez, Abe Rabade, Chino Nunez, Luis Enrique, Robert Vilera, Federico Britos, Luisito Quintero, Mili Bermejo, Alex Alvear, Ensemble Otodoma, Marcus Santos, Jesus Hidalgo and Yarina among others. In 2013,he was nominated by Latin Grammy Academy for participated as arranger, producer and guitar player in "Para ser un Sol" by Jesus Hidalgo. Michel relocated to Miami in 2009. He joined bassist Jannio Hidalgo and drummer Michael Font in a new exciting musical project, Crossbeat, a new concept of jazz fusion/world music. Creativity, fresh sound and powerful performance make this trio unique. In 2014, he recorded the first volume of Amex Project (American Experience Project). Music that represents all of his musical experiences in this wonderful continent called America, which have shaped his past and present forever. Moreover, he recorded with Roberto Cachimuel (Director of Yarina)Gibraltar. This soundtrack melts roots, tastes, ideas, melody, harmony, and emotions; with the only intention to show how beautyful music can be when two amazing artists get together and play. This project has the intentions of promoting culture without frontiers.
