About Marlon Conteras

Marlon Jeremias Contreras Calero is a talented musician whose musicianship has taken him to the world stages where he has collaborated with legendary giants of the music industry. Always a leader, his art as a soloist, chamber musician, orchestra participant, and recording artist has inspired his audience.

His earliest studies were in Violin and Music Theory at the National Conservatory of Music Francisco R. Diaz Zelaya of Honduras. First, he served as a Concert Master at the Conservatory of Honduras in 1994 until 1998. He, also won First Place at the Young Concert Soloist in October of 1996 and his first debut was in the National Theater Manuel Bonilla of Honduras. He graduated with Honors at the National Conservatory of Music Francisco R. Diaz Zelaya in 1999.

In 1995, he joined the Youth Orchestra of Tegucigalpa. Mr. Contreras joined the National Symphony Orchestra of Honduras as first Violinist in 1999 and continued until 2004. Due to his incredible talent, Marlon Contreras was invited as a special guest to perform for the President of Honduras, Ricardo Maduro, at the Government House in 2002.

Marlon Contreras has won several international competitions including the Festival Casals in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1999 as he represented Honduras and in Spain at the Reina Sofia School of Music in the year 2000. Mr. Contreras was also selected to represent Honduras out of thousands of musicians around the Americas at the Orchestra of the Americas TOUR in 2002, 2003 and 2010. His Artistic Adviser is Placido Domingo, who performs in the highest audiences around the globe. He has collaborated and met different Artists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Paquito de Rivera, Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Conductor, Leonard Slatkin, Director of the National Symphony Orchestra of USA and Benjamin Sander of the Boston Philharmonic.

In 2010, Mr. Contreras was awarded 'Musician of the Year of Honduras' in the U.S.A and also represented his country in the Biennial of Americas in Denver, Colorado and because of his extraordinary trajectory in music, he appeared in the headlines of the most important newspapers in his country.

In addition, Marlon Contreras has collaborated in different Latin shows including Latin Grammys, Victoria Secret Shows, Billboard Latin Music Awards, Premios Lo Nuestro, Premios Juventud, El Gordo y La Flaca, Escandalo TV, Buscando la Doble de Selena among many more.

His has been an active member of the Miami Lyric Opera since 2007. Marlon Contreras has been part of many different orchestras in South Florida including the Miami Symphony, Symphony of Americas, Alhambra Orchestra, Miami's Community Orchestra, Arts Flores and many others as well.

Marlon Contreras continues to strive for excellence and gives his all to excel as a Violinist and teaching others to love music as much as he does.
