Education: I began taking piano lessons at the age of 5 and have continued on to receive my Bachelor's of Arts in music from the Gettysburg College Sunderman Conservatory with my principle instrument as piano. I have studied classical piano, but have varied experiences in jazz/pop piano, accompaniment (both classical and musical theater), and contemporary piano. At Gettysburg College, I also participated in many opportunities to teach students ages 5-22 both piano skills and music theory.

    About Katherine Southall

    Katherine has completed her BA in Music at the Gettysburg College Sunderman Conservatory where she also participated in numerous piano pedagogy classes. She has significant performance and accompaniment experience at Gettysburg College, and encourages her students to perform and collaborate with others when the opportunity arises. She studied classical piano for 18 years, winning numerous awards at high-school competitions and earning the Greater Columbia Music Teacher's Association 60 Point Award. Although Katherine has focused on classical music, she also has experience with other genres including jazz, pop, broadway, and contemporary. Her teaching style is dependent on the student, and she strives to collaborate with the student in order to target the lessons towards their interests. Because music has had such an impact on her life, Katherine hopes to inspire a love of music in all her students.
