About Joseph Jones
Joe Jones, AKA "Chicago Joe" was born in, you guessed it , Chicago IL. Blues, Jazz, and R&B
--- the ubiquitous sound track of the south side in the 1960's and '70's--- would form the the basis
of his choices and stylings when he picked up the guitar in high school. Although known in Atlanta
as a blues man , (his blues band won the annual Atlanta Blues Challenge in 2006) Chicago Joe, over his 40 years of professional playing has done stints in classic rock, reggae, R&B, and Jazz bands.
Chicago Joe is a musician but he is also a teacher. His career as a musician has always run parallel
to a career in the in both the Chicago Public Schools and after moving to Georgia, the Atlanta
Public Schools. That is until September of 2000 when he opened a guitar teaching studio and began teaching the children of the Tucker/Decatur/Northlake area. Not long after, Joe also instituted and hosted the only weekly kids jam session in the Atlanta area where his students ,and any other young musician could come, hone their skills and enjoy performing for their parents and friends. He was also the founder and co-owner of Chicago Joe's Rock and Blues Camp. Joe humbly attributes his success at having peopled the Atlanta area with young competent musicians to these institutions. Some of the
young guitarists and musicians who came under his tutelage you can find in and around Atlanta area venues plying their trade professionally.
