About Cameron Austin
Cameron Austin is a drummer/percussionist, singer-songwriter, and teacher from Hiram, GA. Initially inspired by his favorite band, Led Zeppelin, he was deeply driven at a young age to learn music, teaching himself to play several instruments ranging from guitar and drums to keyboard and bass. When he joined EPHS's Raider Brigade drumline and symphonic band, he studied with drum techs/percussionists Neal Bright and Brandon Kunka for four years until he graduated with honors in 2011.
During his four years at EPHS, Cameron also managed to play drums for several garage/local bands, including the popular ska-punk act, S.S. Vendetta, where he released 3 albums and played numerous shows and festivals in the Atlanta ska scene. He now studies jazz performance in drumset/percussion at Kennesaw State University with jazz drummer and composer, Justin Chesarek, as well as percussionist, John Lawless, and jazz guitarist and composer, Trey Wright. While set to graduate in May 2016, Cameron also maintains his own private drumset and percussion studio in Paulding County, teaching children as young as 3 years old and adults as old as 40.
On the side, he spends a lot of time playing/gigging in the local scene as a freelance drummer/percussionist, and occasionally showcases his singer-songwriter material at various venues and house shows. Aside from studying and playing music, Cameron enjoys spending as much time as he can with his family, friends, and playing vintage video games.
