    About Brian Scott

Born and raised in Indianapolis, Brian Scott began his study of music on the violin and piano at the age of four. He played chamber music and solo repertoire throughout elementary and high school, when he began composing as well. He was awarded the Thomas L. Read Award in Composition upon graduating from the University of Vermont in 2013, where he double majored in music theory and performance on the viola. There, he studied viola with Evelyn Read and composition with David Feurzeig. He has studied teaching violin and viola with Mimi Zweig at the Jacobs School of Music as well as music and sound design for video games at the Digipen Institute of Technology.

On top of his academic training, he has over 15 years of songwriting and performing experience as a guitarist, bassist and singer. He currently resides in north Seattle, where he works on commission for video games, film, live dance and the concert stage. A creatively driven individual, Brian has a mission of fostering the love of music in the next generation through teaching to compose as well as play instruments. You can also find him at All Together Skatepark in Fremont where he teaches skateboarding, or performing with his viola and loop pedal at the Sunday Ballard Farmer's Market.
